Nothing much was going on tonight when I logged in, so I was just hanging around for a bit, minding my own business -- when someone in /as said, they were gonna try raiding Trollheim and needed a healer or a ML9 SM to come join 'em. Seeing as how I have both, I said I'd go.
When I get there, our stalwart band consisted of 7 characters:
Healer
Healer (Argort)
Shaman
ML9 SM (Kwesatz)
ML9 BD
Warrior
Thane
I was dual-boxing Argort and Kwesatz, another guy was triple-boxing his healer, shaman, and Bonedancer, and the warrior and thane were playing solo.
First up, we sprint up run around a bit, and jump off a big bridge, whereupon we rapidly heal up, and continue sprinting until there's too many mobs and we die (which is all according to plan)... Healer RR5 rezes himself, and we're all on our feet in the bottom of Trollheim in about 5 minutes.
They'd already spawned Rift, and wiped horribly -- but we tried it again, and wiped horribly, so instead of hanging around Rift, we moved down to Nosdoden, the mutated dragon.
Here he is:
http://camelot.allakhazam.com/db/search.html?cmob=4687
Nosdoden is listed on Alla's as lvl 70 -- I think he's higher. I KNOW he's got about a million HP, and hits harder than the dragon. And yeah, we did him with 7 people. (His remains are in my house right now)
Nosdoden hits HARD, and he's got tons of HP - but his biggest problem is if someone dies to him -- HE ABSORBS their abilities, like battler (if he kills a healer he gets heals and AE stuns/mezzes), and also if he kills someone he immediately spawns a "ghost" of that exact person, complete with buffs at the instant of their death, that's like a LEVEL 70 "ML9 pet" EXACT COPY of the player he killed. And Alla's is wrong also - the ML9 ghost-person doesn't "despawn" when the person is rezzed ... it despawns after about 2 minutes.
Luckily for us, everyone listened, and we only had one death, and it was the Thane. Overall, the fight took us over an hour solid to kill him. Oh, and as this was my first time in Trollheim, I wish my group had told me that the first major mob they want to kill is tougher than the Midgard Dragon!
Here are a few screenshots:
As you can see -- start to finish, Nosdoden is one LONG, tedious, and drawn out fight vs. a mob that can double for 900s. For the largest part of the fight though, we tried to keep Nosdoden centered on our ML9 pets. At least when they died, they didn't respawn back as well, ML9 pets ...

Nosdoden dropped a really nice Warlock bracer, a few other assorted RoG items, and his remains. Nosdoden's head now resides on the staircase wall in my home.
After the fall of Mighty Nosdoden, we went back up to have another go or two at the Rift.
And I've got to admit -- I've never fought anything in DAoC as hard as the rift. Our thane left, so by the time it was Rift season, we were down to 6 characters, played by 3 people. It was then that the other two made the comment on Ventrilo that the rift had NEVER been killed on Galahad, by anyone, to their knowledge, and was much harder than the king and queen in Tuscarian Glacier. But, he thought we could do it.
I'll have to admit I was a bit skeptical at first:

But we rezzed, regrouped, and went back in there, time and again, into the rift. Of very important note is, that our group was UNABLE TO DAMAGE THE RIFT, except via ML9 pets. The rift didn't melee, so focus-shield is useless - it was flat out melee. The warrior was unable to reliably hit the rift, except on some lucky hits all along. Meanwhile he was fighting hard not to get agro from the 30 deep grape mobs defending the rift and trying to kill us all.
This was our group makeup:
Healer, Healer, Shaman, ML9 BD, ML9 SM, Warrior
And this is our story of 6 vs. the Rift.
First off - we couldn't hit the rift. Only the ML9 pets could, while ML9 was active, and even then, the ML9 pets were only hitting for 12 - 18 points. So basically, the rift was only taking damage for 5 minutes out of every 10 minutes. The other 5 minutes while ML9 refreshed, they (and the warrior) were just in combat with it to keep it's health from regenerating. Every ML9 cycle, we would get the rift down a few % health before the ML9 pets would wear out, and then we'd basically stall for time until the next cycle. Meanwhile, there's a ROOM FULL of very purple mobs with melee, DoTs, and nukes, all over us, and the shaman is trying to get and hold agro on ALL of these mobs, run them around the room away from the 2 healers and Convokers, and generally try to stay alive himself.
For over 90 minutes we did this ... and it was tough too - the Rift would nuke folks, sometimes chain nuking, spreadheals/group heals were essential, mobs were spawning and needed kiting, stuff was agro'ing, and above all else, we HAD to keep the Rift engaged in melee so it didn't heal back those precious few % we'd damaged it.
And we kept going, and going, and going, and eventually the rift fell. Here are some screenshots:

This was a brutal fight for the 3 of us, but it feels great right now. WE did it. We didn't have any idea what that thing would drop, so I'm very proud of my new legs The Rift dropped proc a nice little 350 unit Heat PBAE when hit.

Nah, I can claim the first raid to go thru Trollheim
None the less an awesome accomplishment, Iarnvidiar has a T rex that brings the pain aswell. It is a rare spawn iirc.
The Real bastard, is the giant mob in Troll that spawns 1 red con for everyone in aggro range. If you can get past it, you can do the entire thing.
