If it goes small scale like that jeff, I may make a return and just get my pvp armor. Im looking for a game that 15-20 of us can get together on and just HAVE FUN. I tried it in wow and I fucked it all up with trying to progress it to fast.

All I know is that hellfire citadel has 3 5 mans, coilfang reservoir has 3 5 mans, that one wierd city where you choose which faction you kill and which you help has 5 man elements to it, tempest keep has 5 man elements, and kharazan is epic level 10 man.

This is only the stuff they've announced too.

things i learned playing eq this time around.

This time playing, i rolled a necro. Since i couldn't log on the progressive servers, i jumped back to my old stomping grounds, Morell-Thule.

Now, in the tutorial, life was easy. staff farming earned a good bit of plat, and i got pretty well equipped. I got most of my spells, and it looked like i was ready to hop back into the world...good ole nektulos forest. I play a dark elf necro by the way.

Things were going great, and then it came time to sell. One thing i had forgotten in the past 4-5 years since i played is that Neriak is basically a maze, and that the necro guild is aaalll the way in the back. that's okay though, because the map is your new best friend.

Then it came time to do the armor quests for my necro guild (why? because i'm old school, that's why). The two most important things i've learned since my return is that 1) necromancers have the dumbest pet in the world...sure it's a badass at times, but i'll be damned if it's ever a brain surgeon. and 2) deathfist scouts do not exist, nor do their scalps, and embalming dust cannot be found in this god forsaken forest.

I've killed 67 legionnaires, and god knows how many skeletons, zombies, and mummies...no dust, no scalps. Ah well, at least i made roughly 70 plat off vendoring bone chips and bought a tasty new robe.

Robe of Wings, 3 dex, 3 sta, 8 int, 10 hp, 5 mana +7 sv disease, and +7 sv cold.

all for 40p.

now, back to farming for fables, because i'm convinced these items do not exist

ashundra lvl 12 necromancer
that's me

p.s. i'm actually having a good time playing here, even though it sounds like i'm not. yesterday a 70 shammy buffed me and the pet to the gills and we pretty much rolled through the forest...except FU shadowed man...FU very much. also, i know the scalps i need drop off scouts, but legionnaires always spawn in their place....i've seen 3 scouts seen i've been back, no scalps on any of them

40 plat on bone chips??? not bad!

Well, as I looked more into your post on the 'progressive servers', I decided to take a closer peek. I have a premium EQ2 acct, which besides an extra 4 EQ2 char slots, gets me access to all the Sony games..including EQ1.

So, I created a Erudite Magician ... and while it was nostolgic for a bit, there is nothing attractive about the early levels of EQ1. Especially, without the map, without the newere journal system, ... it is EXACTLY like the game at launch. With all its rough edges.

But, I did give up on the Magician, and started an Erudite Enchanter. That was slightly more fun... but still, it sucks to be killed by a freek'n kobold runt, just because it has a rusty weapon. (but OHHHH do you desire to kill them, as those weapons actually go for a gold or so! No more slimey snake skins for pittance of 2 silvers!)

I'm not sure if I'll spend any long term time on it.. but we'll see. I'm going to hop on right now and see if I can get a level or 2. It will get much more unforgiving when I hit level 6, and start having to recover my items off my corpse when I die. That bites.

He he... anyways, I'm on the 'The Sleeper' progressive server. if anyone wants to start a newbie Erudite and clobber snakes, beetles & skeletons...

~Mesmur, 2nd level Erudite Enchanter

As an FYI -- I (and likely my wife) are both up for Warhammer.

I used to play EQ, but she had an ABSOLUTELY terrible experience with one of her former boyfriends being an EQ addict - and sitting at the PC playing it for 18+ hours a day, and not moving to help or do anything else, that she absolutely hates that game, and that's the only image she can see of EQ.

So, there will be no EQ at my house again or me dual-boxing on my 65 Shaman/65 Shadowknight, both decked out in full Vex-Thal and elemental planes armor ... as a courtesy to her.

Well, still on the progressive 'Sleeper' server.. Mesmur is now 9th level enchanter.

And I have been reintroduced into the joy that is corpse retrievals. <sigh>

Death penalties aside, I starting reflecting on what the original game was like in terms of item acquisition. I was in my late teens before I got my first magic weapon (which you need to hit magic beasts), and that was a hand me down. You really can't start earning much good beginner gear until the twenties. And that is whey you simply covet AC4 neck gear, or something to replace you cracked staff.

I've been combing the EQ sites looking for good gear to go after at my young 9th level, and it looks like home-made silk for the time being.

Anyways, I'm still playing .. must likely kill Mesmur inthe morning...

Ha, Jorm and I have made plenty of corpse runs that suck really really bad recently. By far the worst is South Karana. We use the porters to go to Qeynos and then comes the worst part, West Karana. I remember that zone being a lot smaller when I was being chased by a werewolf across it. So we make it to North Karana...

It dawns on us about halfway into NK that we're dark elves, and the guards are at least dubious (we spent a lot of time in blackburrow farming faction). So we can cross the bridge into SK...wrong.

We forget the part about anything having to do with Tunare or Rodcet Nife HATES all things dark elf or necromancer/shadowknight. As we step onto the bridge, we hear "Rodcet Nife give me the power to smite your enemies!"
We start running, not even caring about the 12 people with torches and pitchforks behind us. We make it safely in and get our bodies at the other side of SK at the bird camp.

The second worst place has to go to castle mistmoore.

Corpse Retrieval

Post by Urgon »

Mistmoore... yup. You are right... the most evil zone, and an absolute PAIN to get your corpse out of .. if you made it anywhere near or in the castle...

I lost many levels of x.p. there my 1st time around... will be avoiding that zone this time...

but.. I'll most likely kill Mesmur in the morning...

this thread has become pretty much a treasure trove of EQ stories. that being said, if you got one you wanna speak on, well, speak on it.
