so... um Chad and I have a subscription to Pirates of the Caribbean Online. well hell, it's free, unless you actually want to DO anything worthwhile in the game... then it's $5 for the first month and $10 after that.
Chad started playing and convinced me to start a toon, so we're kind of trying it. He plays mostly, since I'm so busy - he uses my toon as kind of a bot to either steer ships while he shoots or vice versa.
So far, it's more kid friendly than other MMOs that I've seen. You have to pick a generated appropriate name. Mine is Catherine Bladespinner. You can pick your own name, but it has to be approved. Chad got Turcotte after waiting a few days.
He's also started a guild called Volsung Tribe. The name of the guild also had to be approved, but only took about a day. So far it's just me and him in it.
At any rate, it's awesome for super casual players like myself. You aren't tied to one server, so if a spot is super crowded and you can't blow up the ships you need to blow up, you can just switch to a less populated server and it's a lot easier.
So, if you guys wanna try it out, here's a link to the game. Let us know if you want in to the guild though, because so far I haven't seen any kind of mail system or even a system of giving anything to other players. lol. That plus there's no guarantee of what server we'll be on, unless you want to pick one.
It's not a very deep game. There is a story line, but I'm not sure it's very long as of yet. PvP is available, but only in a duel sense.

The ship fighting is FUN
(oh, and Chad just told me you can do PvP ship fighting, and you can play poker and blackjack against other players as well and win money)
