I like all of the FF games, but 7 is by far my favorite. There's certain elements about 8 that I liked more, but I HATED how monsters leveled up with Squall (who was usually required to be in your party) making it more difficult to level other characters if he got ahead since they'd get raped, and I HATED the draw system and how I was actually slightly weakened by using my spells, and in order to get it back I'd have to go to the middle of nowhere and draw 20 more ultimas. Card game kicked ass though. 7's strength was in the extremely well developed characters and what I felt was a much stronger plot than ff8. They all lived in a fuckin orphanage together? Come on, that's bullshit. When you're playing an 80 hour game with similar combat systems overall, it's the plotline that you'll want to focus on.
Really, you should be looking for FF:T though. Has the plot, the graphics, the music, and the deepest combat system I've seen in a Tactical RPG.
I've actually just started playing ff9 again. Surprisingly I'm enjoying it enough that I might beat it this time. You can probably get that one cheap too. And don't bash Vivi, he's an extremely cool character if you actually play the game. He looks exactly like the black mages always have in the series.Statistics: Posted by Rhylith — Thu Dec 29, 2005 12:17 pm
