I have to truly understand what the effects of being able to play without DR vs having it. So far I have not been out in RVR but I am wondering am I really not going to be able to compete? i mean, what really are the advantages besides a mount for my slow Dwarven arse?

Main reason for my inquiry is I activated to be as casual as possible. I don't want to jump into hours of grind again to be a viable rvr player.

well you will be competitive, but with DR you will be much more competitive.

I too activated to be a casual player, but i find myself drawn to the game more (not addicted like i was tho).

As a casual player you can get the uber weapons and armours which will make you more competitive in both PvE and RvR.

Mounts are good, subclassing i can comment on as i not there yet.

I will have to ?pharm the first few weeks I get back to get my Equipment up to standard.

I'll help you with that Grym. you will probably have quite a few gaming friends at your disposal to get you back on your feet.

The quests are ultra easy and you can do it with a bot, up until the last couple quests which you'll need a group for.


1) You get an incredible weapon (Champion weapon)

2) You can use horses, which greatly speeds up the time it takes to get anywhere, if you aren't a speed class. Horse speed is about equal to Runemaster speed.

3) Your character can get minor bonuses to HP and other stats

4) You can get Subclass abilities, which are very weak versions of other abilities in the game. Some of the more useful abilities are 10% combination resist buffs and a melee resist insta buff.

I love not having to pay for two accounts (and run both at the same time) to compete.

That being said, if I do reactivate I would have to buy DR since I wouldn't want to be left behind.

The other memorable moments for me in RvR aside from Jorm's LD's are.... WTH is Darukh? ::we watch his health drop as he has wondered away from the group and is fighting some stealth gank squad.::....Then watching him spam for help in group chat and us not knowing where the HELL he is!::

Sorry bud, but after 20-30 min. of buffing the ole Dwarf does get a wee bit impatient. On that note though I am going to use grapple often, making me more of an offensive lineman than anything so if I am attacked, I grapple, than call for help ... pull up your map and look for the dot.

I would only go ld when YOU decided to take on the entire Eternal Particle Knights of Stoss.
