Resolutions for 2006
I've learned a long time ago that you don't just resolve to do something different for the upcoming year, especially if you intend to keep it.
For me, it all boils down to Want or Need?
If I want something it means I am willing to do what it takes to make that happen. I can probably go without it, but there is desire there and that desire is a focus for me to make it happen.
If I need something it means there is pain and sacrifice involved. It is something I must do! There is no desire, only urgency, and knowing you must do something that you do not wish to do.
Notice how positive wanting something is vs. needing something?
When it comes to resolutions for me, I wish for my resolutions this year to be thought out, have desire, and fearless action in doing them and not worrying about failure, but rather ... have the thought "What if I actually am successful in my resolve and action? "
This year I want my family to be settled in our first home. I have been trying very hard to clear away past credit. I've stayed consistent with my employment and have not changed jobs very often. I've excelled in my line of work and people are starting to take notice at the guy who scribbles on a desk with a Patriot football helmet resting atop it and a dartboard hanging up for good measure. I want to advance. I want desperately to give this to my family.
This, is the year for me to give up smoking because it is disgusting, it is killing me slowly and I barely make it a week even after the strongest resolves of saying "GOD I NEED TO STOP!". I used to hope my wife would quit with me but I now realize I can't wait for her. I have to lead by example. I'm tired of dissecting my mucus and finding blood from my 5 minute coughing spasms in the morning. I've felt what it is like to not smoke. I'm more alive, I can taste food and beer more! Sex is amazing! I want so badly to stop this year, this is the year I'll do it even if I must rent a rubber room out for 6 weeks in total isolation.
Whatever your resolutions are this year everyone remember you must want it! You have to think about it, visualize it, put it into action. Save the mental masturbation for Kitty's photo album.
God only knows why I am posting this but I felt like just shooting the shit on the boards I guess. It helps me to visualize doing it as well and my life is an open book to you all anyways so.
Have a safe and Happy New Year Tribe!

To get to know my Daughter, who was a mere sleeping lump on my shoulder when I left. Now she is walking and talking.
To get to know my wife and son again. It has been a long year. Time is fleeting and you do not realize that until you have lost it.
To stop dipping Skoal. Seriously.

Wow, go for it guys and gals. Just stop doing it. Waste of money and it kills you. Hold one another accountable. Give me a ring if you feel the urge, and I'll give you a verbal slapping.

quitting smoking isn't so bad...well, it is, but it isn't.
i smoked for the better part of 10 years more than any human being every should. when it comes to quitting...the first 3 days suck SO BAD. after that, it's all in your brain. you'll think you need that smoke when nope, you just need to punch somebody in the throat.
and that's about the ins and outs of it.
my advice: get a sinus infection and a case of bronchitis at the same time. that does wonders.
as far as resolutions, i resolve to punch more people in the throat.

My resolution is to stop smoking .. easy. Get into better shape so I can pass my PT test to make SGT. And last of all get laid as much as possible by as many female people as possible for the next year (for which I feel I may fail). But beyond that I am doing great. Have a lot of new things going on for the first half of this year so i will keep the second half open.
The only one who can do anything right is yourself.
