latest news (if you care)

Post by Lilae »

Turc is feeling better, he goes back to the doctor Aug 9th for more X-rays and hopefully the doc will give the ok for him to go back to work. :D

Nearly a month ago, I got a "regret" letter resulting from my application to the radiology (diagnostic imaging) program at my school. I was pretty upset, Phisto can attest to that. :P We went out and got drunk though, so that was ok. I couldn't get a hold of the radiology advisor (she was on vacation) that week, so I called right away and got in touch with the CLT (clinical lab technology) advisor and set up a meeting with her, got the spot, switched majors and prepared to carry on...

Week later I get a call back from the radiology advisor and am able to make an appt, week after that I get to talk to her. Turns out it was a technicality, because my old school didn't transfer one tiny little number that they should have and it screwed everything up. She appealed it and last Monday I got a "Congratulations" letter from the Diagnostic Imaging program. :D Problem is, since I didn't have all month to prepare, I have to scramble to get everything I need. That includes ALL vaccinations (measles, rubella, tetanus, etc.) TB test, and a 3 shot series Hepatitis B vaccine. >< Gotta have all this done by Aug 20th. Sent away for a damn birth certificate today too from Illinois, since the Nuclear Regulatory Commission requires proof that I'm over 18. /sigh I also spent 3 hours in the damn financial aid office today to sign two sheets of paper. Gotta love how easy they make higher education.

Good thing is, I jump right in!!!!! I start working at a hospital for clinicals one day a week by the end of the month, and I'm so damn excited about that. I just hope I can get the prerequisite vaccines and paperwork done by then. They tried to scare us today in orientation, but I'm looking forward to it.

Ok, vent over. Sorry to bother you all. I just had to share this crazy day. <3

so today was the second day of class, and I finally got all the paperwork turned in, although I had to include a little note that said I would have the second Hep B series vaccine done by Sept 6 and clinicals start Sept 7.

I get to school at 8am... watch some horrible movies from the 80's and 90's about patient privacy and bloodborne pathogens among others, and a very humorous one about safety while near the MRI machine... then got out of that at 11:45 all ready for the CPR class at 12.

No one showed up to teach the class at 12, they didn't arrive until 1pm, and didn't get the equipment set up until 1:30 - then we didn't get out of that class until about 4pm. Meanwhile I didn't have breakfast and came straight to the CPR from the other class so had to scarf down a candy bar for breakfast and lunch.

Got that done, certified and all that, then came home and put together my mini-skeleton.

His name is Hector.

I'm very sleepy :p

Does Hector want a job in my "Bone Army", maybe he could follow a path better than my old commander...

Cheers

Sounds Rough, Ced is planning to apply for that program that you just got into too Lilae lol, so if he makes it, you 2 can gripe together.
Im just going to keep struggling along through this cursed Intermediate Algebra course and get it out of the way and then get through the rest of my teaching courses, none of which could be as badly hated as this one lol.
