kenny estis and the book series that wouldn't go away....

Post by farf »

So there we were, just sitting on the couch one weekend night. We were looking for something on television (which isn't anything out of the ordinary for us)when lo and behold, she spots it on HBO. Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. I'm heavily skeptical at best. I protest, but much to my dismay, she refuses to bend....and so we watch.

Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not one of the people who shout "I hate Harry Potter, he hax!" to the heavens. I actually like what the series has done for the literary world. Millions of children and adults read now because of Harry Potter. I guess I have no beef with the series, I'm just not really into wands, I guess. As the movie goes, I enjoyed it and we're probably going to see the Order of the Phoenix soon. She is adamant about obtaining the book series and making me read them. I still persist in my protests, but it's mostly just to get a rise out of her . I thought I'd share this little bit of nothing much just to do it I guess.

At any rate....

So....

Who already has their copy of the 7th book?

And yes, I will shamelessly reply to my own post just to hit number 300.

We've got it and my wife is reading it now. I should get my hands on it tomorrow, most likely.

I'm a little behind the times...I just finished (about 15 seconds ago) Goblet of Fire. Now that I'm living alone in an extended stay hotel in Columbus I've got plenty of time to read. I'll probably go pick up the next two books (Order of Phoenix and Half-blood Prince) sometime in the next week or two.

I just finished Deathly Hallows a bit ago.

Fabulous book. There were one or two minor things I wasn't thrilled with, but on the whole it's the best book hands down.

I'll probably read it again in a month or two.

Deathly Hallows

My daughter just picked up the book, and read it as fast as she could manage! She really liked it, although she is a bit sad that there will be no more.

Ok, I've nearly caught up to the rest of the world. I've finished Order of the Phoenix and Half-Blood Prince...damn, that woman can write a good battle sequence. I'm afraid to go pick up Deathly Hallows because my sleep schedule has already been seriously screwed up since starting books 5 and 6.

I've watched the movies and after the last movie (Order of Phoenix), my wife went out and bought the Half Blood Prince and the Deathly Hallows.

She read them both and was just beside herself liking them. She just sat there and read them for hours on end.

Me ... I haven't read any of the others, and I didn't want to wait another 3 - 6 years for the next two movies, so I picked up book 7, flipped to the end, and read the last 100 or pages.

I may go back and read the Half-Blood Prince and all of Book 7 I suppose, but the ending was nice.

Will probably get it for daughter for her september birthday and read it whenever she finishes. If i get time then >.<

wow its been awhile since I read the boards..been a little busy lately, working and all that

Brad and I splurged and went and saw Order of the Pheonix on Imax!!

It was perty cool...finished the book a few weeks ago....and now its time to read em all over again...seeing as I'll have two weeks of nothing but time on mu hands....went to the OBs for ultrasound...and discovered my amniotic fluid is low....my doctor sent me to see a perinatologist for a level 2 ultrasound. Good news is our little boy is fine, but my fluid is about halfway where is should be 12 cm. I seem to not be drinking enough water. So 2 weeks of mandatory bed rest...and drink a gallon of water a day.
Cross your fingers its gonna be ok at the end of two weeks and I wont be forced to be on my back for the next 4 months.
I die @ the age of 47, ....in a Fiery golf cart crash....I heard alcohol was involved
